What does neon taste like? As an original cocktail to accompany the Feneon typeface release, I wanted to concoct something “electric” in look and taste. The mandatory neon red is provided by Campari, the French bitter aperitif. The finish is made more complex with cherry notes contributed by the Kirschwasser, reinforced by the buzzy maraschino and complemented by fruity bitters. Lemon juice and a little salt balance out the bittersweet tendency. Fruity bitterness for a sophisticated palate, and a nice analogue for the electric nightlife suggested by Feneon.
