For the Fillmore typeface's cocktail, many of the ingredients speak to the several influences that most strongly influenced the design. First off, the late 19th-century French poster art of George Auriol is represented by the absinthe, the intoxicating "green fairy" that appears in much of the art of the French Bohemian scene of Auriol's day. Its powerful anise and herb flavors dominate the drink even at this limited volume. Surrealist sculptor Jean Arp, who spent most of his life in France, is represented by the cognac, while the Catalan surrealist painter Joan Miró is represented by Spanish sherry. Finally, the sixties psychedelic scene, which reached a peak in concerts and light shows at the Fillmore East in San Francisco, gets a nod from the inclusion of Fernet Branca, the Italian bittersweet liqueur that became closely associated with San Francisco by the eighties. The cocktail is suggestive of a trippy mix of flavors: lemon oil, light caramel, vanilla ice cream, complex herbs, and licorice.
